update

again, were not doing great. My laziness has won out over being hyper viglilant about giving her pottournities. today we had 2 catches which is great!

Ups and downs

yeah, im a terrible blogger!

We have been catching atleast once a day lately. My dd is seriously teething and has been a cranky monster so I dont want to make her upset by sitting on the potty. We'll get it done, soon enough!

I havent updated for a few, so Im doing it now. Eowyn is in bed napping, im watching a show on TLC, and playing on the computer.

So ECing hasnt been going great the last few weeks. I made a concious decision at 16 months, shes 15 now, we are going full steam with EC. We will do diaperless at home, and trainers when out with covers. I would like Eowyn to be potty trained by 18mos, but im not going to push it. I think she would be close to it now, but I will admit im lazy! Lol!

In other news, we just bought Eowyn a kitchen, and she LOVES it. She played with it all day yesterday. We bought it used from a second hand shop and it will last for years to come. I plan on opening an in home daycare in a few months after we move, so it was a smart purchace for that as well. Im hoping to get filled fast due to being cd friendly and all my years of experience as a nanny.

So to sum it up, noting super exciting has been happening here. Oh i did make about 40 cloth wipes in a week, that was awesome. And I plan to try and make some cloth trainers for E, in a few weeks.

Much needed update

So I havent been great about doing a daily or even weekly blog. Sometimes theres not enough hours in the day it seems like. I love my family, and am 100% dedicated to spending time with my sweet baby when shes awake, so I am going to try to blog at night or during the nap times.

ECing has been going great! We are catching almost 80%, not including nights. Im at a loss as to how to approach night time EC. My lo usually sleeps though the night, although lateley shes been up a few times a night. I like to blame that on those nasty teeth!

I dont want to wake her to potty her, and shes still getting a cup of milk before bed, so until I take that last cup away I know theres no chance of staying dry over night.

So the EC adventure has been wonderful for us. I wish i knew more people who did it! Its amazing!

2-3 diapers a day

Were down to only having 2-3 accidents in diapers a day! Its so awesome!

We have had ups and downs on our EC journey, but this week has been amazing!  Eowyn is 13months!

I have been off work since tuesday, so today is my 3rd day off.  Tuesday we did alot of cleaning and alot of ecing, I had her in her tiny panties but I'm starting to think they might be too tight and actually making her miss more.

Weds morning after breakfast she went over to her potty and sat on it and went, she had on a diaper, but it let me know she knows what the potty is for, so the rest of the day, except nap/mealtimes, she was bare bottomed with a dress on!  We only had one big accident after dinner, a #2 and it was a mess!

Today, it's 1:34pm and she has peed and pooed in her potty all day except our little outing to lunch.  So one dirty diaper all day today, and no misses!  She even went and sat on the potty twice and pooed by herself!

I am so glad I had these few days off to really focus on this!  I'm actually off all next week then vacation the week after that so were going to make great strides twards being totally diaperless over the next 2 weeks!

Sickness and teeth!

We have been Mia for a while.  We have not been doing so great on ec lately!  My lo used to go as soon as she woke up and now likes to hold it and wait till I put a diaper on her to go.  On top of all this we found out she had N ear infection last weds, did 5 day dose of antibiotics, and I was up with her all night took her back to dr and she has one in the other ear now and is on a 10day antibiotic routine now.  Her birthday is less than 10 days away.

So with being sick, and getting 2 new teeth we haven't been so persistent with the ec.  I dont want to have her associate the ecing with pain or frustration.

Ita been a roller coaster!  But I feel wonderful when we do make a catch and when she does keep her pants dry!  I love my sick cranky little monster!

Hello!!

So we have had a rough week. I havent been feeling well and baby is teething, so I have been happy just to catch before/after naps and sleeping, and any major change in activity. We went to a library class this week, and I took her potty before and it was the first time I sat her on the potty backwards and sat behind her. She actually went, while playing with the flusher part, lol, atleast it was decently clean!

We just got 15 custom pairs of underwear for her today. I didnt work today because I was sick, and hubby stayed home to watch her so I could rest and start feeling better. Im still not feeling great but I have been kicking myself to update, so here it is! Im going to try out the undies tomorrow, I cant wait!

Been busy

So sorry I havent posted for a few days! I have been busy with work, and the new RIFT game that just released, Im a total MMORPG addict.

Today my lo totally refused to use the potty when waking this morning and after her morning nap, but we only went through one diaper. We went out to lunch with a friend and I was sure she would be wet when we got to her house for the playdate after and she was dry, so I set up her little travel potty and my friend got to see EC in action, she was totally impressed! Lo is teething really bad, im hoping they come in this weekend so she will be in a better mood, and the EC will be so much easier.

I discovered the prefold belt this week, and I found something that would work to make one here at home. Today we used it, its so easy to just let her run around in the prefold and it slips right out to go pee and slips right back in so shes covered! Lol but its not great when you walk out of the room and she poos, and I walk back in to find her with poo all over her legs and hands...not a good prefold belt story!

Keep up the good work, Im tying!

New tactics

So new tactic today, instead of sitting her on the potty with no results when queuing, I am letting her run around bare bummed, and following her around with a diaper flat to catch any misses and que when she's going.

I think we need to work on associating the que noise with the action.  She's been up since 7:00, and now it's 7:30, and we caught the morning pee and nothing else so far.  She averages about every 40 mins peeing, I have been tracking it on my total baby iPhone app!  I love that thing!  Tracks feedings, naps, diapers, and anything else you can think of, it's all customizable!

Sunday update

So it's Sunday, almost 2pm and were in our cd's after 3back to back misses on the floor.  We did great yesterday, had way more catches than misses, even went out for breakfast and shopping and she stayed dry most of the trip!

Today however wasn't as great.  She peed first thing in the morning and then we went to church, she of course peed there which I expected so I changed her before we left.  She fell asleep on the ride home, so I brought her in and put her in her room still asleep and went to get my hair cut.  When I got back she had pooed in potty but not peed since we left church, and then had 3 misses right in a row, so we put the diaper on and are going to start again after her nap.

I wish we could ec full time but I dont know if it will ever happen until she is able to communicate to me better that she has to go.  I am not picking up her signs, she has none, that I see.  But even if we only go before and after bed and naps, she still will know she can go somewhere else than just her diaper.

Wish us better luck this afternoon and I have all day tomorrow to spend dedicated to ec as well!

I just read this article!  So happy ec is being put out there main stream!

We have been struggling the last few days with lo's ec.  I work 3 days/week as a nanny and it's very hard to ec while watching my lo who's 10mo and a 9mo old as well.

We ec after every nap, and I have been starting to sit her on the potty while having her bottle or after eating food to offer her a chance, a pottyournity if you will.  I just do not feel comfortable with her being bare behind at my work with her still having accidents so frequently.

My husband and I discusses our plans for the weekend and I told him when I get home tonight, through me going to work on Tuesday afternoon, I want lo to be diaperless so we can really figure out her signals and try to help her make that connection between peeing and using the potty.  I'm sure we will go out of the house atleast once or twice and use diapers, but she's great at staying dry when were out!

I am also part time ec'ing the 9mo old I watch, I take her after naps same as mine, we however had to make a different sound for her, my lo's sound is pssss, the others sound is teetee, works out great so I'm not queuing them both at the same time, since we only have one bblp!

I just wanted to give a quick update!  I will update with pics over the weekend to let you know how it's goin!!

Misses!

Well today hasnt been a great day in the world of EC.  Little lady has been sick so we have been pushing fluids like crazy so we have missed a ton, lol and we had our first experience with poo in her panties, that was err..fun?  We have missed a ton today only caught 2 so far, but were still trying!  Her signals are so subtle it's hard to pin point them.  I really need to work on paying closer attention to signals.

And as I was writing this, she stopped playing and got quiet and I just knew she was going pee, but how do I know before?  That's the problem, I guess starting to stop her while she's going and doing the que sound and putting her on the potty!

So we have been fighting a nasty cold the last few days, we went to the dr earlier today just to make sure it wasn't another sneaky ear infection, thank God it's not.  My poor baby has had 4 already in her short life and they have all been rough!  But I think as of this afternoon were on the rebound.  But as for the ec, I'm about to throw in the towel for the day, send me some support!!

Clean clean clean!

So yesterday my lo went to Nanas so my husband and I could clean the house and work on some serious babyproofing.  She is going everywhere and getting into everything she can find.  So needless to say we did not practice EC except before and after she got back.  But she was in her little panties all the time before and after!

She has been doing so great since we started back pretty hardcore on the ec.  Friday at work she crawled to the potty and was patting it and looking at me so I put her on it and she went.  I dont know if it was a fluke accident or if she really was telling me hey I gotta go, but I was so excited about it.

She has been in her big girl panties all morning so far, she started to go once, and I caught her and put her on the potty and she finished, its getting so much easier to catch her signals since she can run around with just the panites and no pants on.



Were prolly going to go out for breakfast, my husband is very crazy about breakfast food and we just recently found out that one of our favorite pancake places made a new building close by.   So exciting!

Brand new to this

Ok so this is my first blog.  I am brand new to this so you will have to bare with me.

I decided to start this blog to chronicle my day to day struggle/reward with Elimination Communication.

I have been practicing this with my now 10mo old since about 4.5-5mos old.  We werent very hardcore about it at first.  It started out that I knew when my lo was going to poo, so I would rush her into the toliet and let her go in there instead.  Well that was before she started eating solid foods, and her poo has changed dramaticlly.  I dont think I have caught one of those in a few months!

Earlier this week we caught 7pees through the course of a day, only used 4 diapers all day long, which was awesome, to be followed by the next day when she would sit on the potty and pretty much refuse to go.  She would sit there for what seemed like forever and not go, but atleast she was sitting and trying.

We start the day off by sitting on her potty in her room, on the changing table.  Usually I can catch that first pee and go from there.  Well last 2 days, again she just wont go.  So I am starting from the begining again.  I need to figure out her signals, and we are going to get more hardcore about this whole EC adventure!

I think this will get easier as the weather here in Indiana gets warmer.  I wont have to dress her as warm and she can run around with reg panties on instead of a diaper, or bare bumed!  I hope some of you want to follow me in this journey!  Its going to be fun!!
